Hands On Network, with support from Motorola, has improved our valuable voice response tool to drive more volunteers to your Volunteer Center.  We’ve added state of the art technology and comprehensive, yet easy-to-use features  to our 1-800-Volunteer voice system (1-800-865-8683)  to make it easier for volunteers to find your opportunities.

1. Is more intuitive for callers and can easily handle higher volumes of callers.
   
2. Allows volunteers to select from multiple Volunteer Centers in their area and then be automatically transferred to you.
   
3. Permits us to quickly change phone options in the event of a disaster so callers get to where they need to go within hours of the disaster.
   
4. Provides a solid foundation for additional planned enhancements, including more local control over menus, remote voicemail, and detailed reports.

Making the System Work

Do the following to ensure a great experience for callers:

1. Ensure that someone is available, or that appropriate information is provided, at the transfer number that is in the system for your Volunteer Center during normal business hours.  If you don’t know what number is being used, call the system and find your Volunteer Center or contact our staff 1800Support@1800Volunteer.org. 
2. If you have a voicemail available for callers at this number, be sure to respond to the callers promptly.
3. Be prepared to provide callers with information about current volunteer opportunities or ways to engage with your Volunteer Center, and find out their skills and interests.
