This site implements the W3C recommendations for the design of accessible web pages, which includes the use of text alternatives for images, "skip navigation" links to avoid repetitive lists of links, and access keys.


Access keys
1-800-Volunteer.org uses access keys to aid users who do not have the ability to use a pointing device, as well as making it faster for others to access important links.

To use this feature on the Windows Operating System, press ALT and an access key to access the link.

To use this feature on the Macintosh Operating System, press Control and an access key.

In addition, we use a simple numbering system on the left hand sidebar that goes from 1-9 (to represent the main links) and A-E (to represent the sublinks).
