Striving for More is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to fund psychosocial care for kids with cancer. Psychosocial care includes Pediatric Psychologists, Child Life Specialists, Social Workers and Pastors.
12,400 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. While their bodies are being treated, it is also important that their heart, mind and soul be treated as well. The reality is that many children protect their caregivers by hiding their feelings of fear. Unfortunately, many hospitals are inadequately staffed to provide proper emotional support to children.
Our mission is to raise awareness of the importance of psychosocial care for children and to provide funding to hospital oncology units so they can implement psychosocial services to better serve the needs of children battling cancer.
We are striving for more so that no family will have to go through childhood cancer alone.
