Interactive Story Teller
What
  Great Lakes Children's Museum
Description:
A picture book is selected each week to be read to children in the preschool - early elementary age group. Stories are chosen with interactivity in mind so that the children can make an easy craft related to the story to take home.

Volunteer Expectations:
- Interact warmly with young children and appropriately guide their behavior
- Able to read a story with dramatic flourish to hold children's interest
- Ideally, a volunteer will commit to one session per month

The Interactive Story Teller is responsible for preparing and setting up the activity. Story books, supplies, plans, and instructions for each story and interactive activity are provided by the Great Lakes Children's Museum. If they desire, volunteers may develop their own story and activity, with the guidance of Museum staff. When the volunteer chooses a story of their own, please let a museum staff person know what the story will be at least a month a head of time. The Interactive Story Time Teller welcomes and engages the children into the story time. The volunteer reads the story to the children and guides the craft activity. The volunteer creates a warm and friendly play experience for children coming to Interactive Story Time. It may be necessary to re-direct inappropriate child behavior. The volunteer is responsible for cleaning up after the children have completed the craft activity.
