Celebrity Readers brings community role models together to promote early literacy to children preparing to enter kindergarten. Celebrity Readers can be local business owners; business professionals (doctors, lawyers, real-estate agents, accountants, etc.); government service employees (teachers, military, law-enforcement officials, etc.); or collegiate or professional athletes. The program commitment is to simply visit with a class at one of our childcare centers or family childcare homes and read a book which could be accompanied by a hands-on activity if volunteer chooses. By volunteering to participate in this program you will help children be exposed to different job service backgrounds and have a personal encounter with many people who they have only seen on television or been told about through a story-book.
