Thank you for visiting the MOVE website. Listed below are new volunteer opportunities that might be of interest to you. To view additional opportunities, enter the name of the city where you want to volunteer. Use the drop down bar to indicate the disctance you're willing to travel to the volunteer location. A list of volunteer opportunities will appear. If you wish to conduct an Advanced Search, enter a keyword. For example, if you have an interest in the arts or you want to provide office support, enter the word "arts" or "office" in the keyword box. Volunteer opportunities that involve the arts or office work will pop up. If you would like to sign up for a particular opportunity, simply click on "Express Interest" and create a free account. You will be asked to provide your contact information. The system will generate an e-mail to the nonprofit agency notifying them that you're interested in their volunteer opportunity. Breast Cancer Resource Center, 316 Central S.E. We help New Mexicans connect to resources and information about breast and other cancers. Sign up for upcoming training to be held Friday, November 13, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., AND Saturday, November 14, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., AND Sunday, November 15, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (must attend all three sessions). The deadline to sign up for training is November 2, 2009. Training will include emotional and practical support so that volunteers can work one-on-one with clients and/or facilitate group sessions. We also have ongoing needs for volunteers to help in other areas of our organizations. Volunteer orientations are held monthly and are an excellent way to find out more about the Center and available volunteer opportunities. Blue Star Mothers. We are mothers and fathers who now have, or have had, children honorably serving in the military. We are a non-profit (501[c]3) service organization supporting each other and our children while promoting patriotism. Learn more about us at http://www.nmrgvbluestarmothers.org. During the month of November, we will mail holiday care boxes to deployed troops. We would like to receive donations prior to Friday, November 13 so we can sort items, inventory and understand quantities for the packing. Single-Serving, Pre-Packaged Food Items. Keep in mind that sometimes it takes a long time for the troops to receive the items, so no homemade goodies are accepted. Tuna/chicken/salmon in foil pouches, vienna sausages in small pop-top cans, jerky (small packages), protein or granola bars, sunflower/pumpkin seeds or nuts, trail mix, coffee singles, instant oatmeal, dried fruit (raisins, etc.), fruit in pop-top cans or cups, fruit roll ups, green chili in pop-top cans (can be found at Wal Mart or Costco), chewing gum, hard candy, microwave popcorn, Pop Tarts, shelf-stable microwavable items, single-serving drink mix tubes (Kool-Aid, Crystal Light, etc.), tea bags, and Pringles potato chips. Travel Size Toiletries. Bath soap, shampoo, hair conditioner, dental floss, deodorant, disposable razors, tissue, lip balm, body lotion, mouthwash, foot powder, sunscreen, toothbrushes, toothpaste, Q-tips, emery boards, nail clippers, tweezers, wet wipes, insect repellent (no aerosol) and shaving gel (no aerosol). Miscellaneous Items. Pens & pencils, pocket-sized word/math game books, zipper bags (sandwich, snack and quart sizes), gloves, white tube socks, wash cloths, small hand towels, clothes dryer sheets, disposable cameras. We would also appreciate donation of empty Pringles Chip cans (we decorate them and fill them with candy).
Heritage Hospice. Hospice is founded on the idea of volunteerism and Heritage Hospice appreciates the work our volunteers do! Our volunteers are active members of the hospice team and can be utilized in many areas, such as: patient comfort, office assistance, home errands, and caregiver support. Community Options, Inc. We provide employment, residential support and day-hab services for individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues and traumatic brain injury. Our website address is http://www.comop.org. Ten (10) volunteers needed to clean and reorganize 2500 square foot office located at 2720 San Pedro N.E. We will provide all cleaning supplies. N.M. PTA., 3315 Louisiana N.E. We could use the help of 6-10 volunteers to clean and paint a room that measures 28' x 30'. We will provide all materials. Project can be done anytime Monday-Saturday. 516 ARTS, 516 Central S.W. We are dedicated to bringing contemporary art to Albuquerque and New Mexico through rotating shows at our gallery, educational outreach to schools and the community as well as collaborations with other art organizations. As we wind up our current project LAND/ART, we’re looking forward to some exciting new shows in 2010. Current and ongoing opportunities for volunteering abound. They range from staffing the Information Desk...to helping out at events...to giving tours...to installation of new shows. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the Information Desk duties fall within those hours. Special events are usually held during evening hours, and school tours can be any time between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. All necessary training and information is provided for each duty. N.M. Department of Public Health, 1111 Stanford Drive N.E. Volunteers needed during flu season to answer telephones, provide information regarding flu clinics, and schedule appointments. Will not interact with walk-in patients. We are located two blocks north of UNMH, and will provide parking. Shifts available Monday-Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Help needed through mid-December. Training will be provided. Minimum age: 18. Director of First Impressions. Front desk receptionist to meet and greet patients, parents, students, and guests. Must be cheerful and like children. Will assist Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist in scheduling appointments. Time commitment: 2-3 days a week, 3 hrs. each day minimum.
Clerical Assistant. Provide clerical support to services/departments in maintaining records. Will assist in data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, filing and photocopying. Must like children. Time commitment: 1-2 days a week, 3-4 hours each day minimum, hours between 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Grounds Keeper/Maintenance. Maintain outside grounds around building. Pick up litter, clear leaves, salt drive and walkways in the winter, and clean playground. Light maintenance inside. Must like the outdoors. Time commitment: 3-4 days a week, 1 hour each day minimum. Would prefer 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.
All volunteers and paid staff must pass a background check (we cover the cost). Minimum age: 16.
