Description:
Tax preparation volunteers are needed in local communities across California. These volunteers will help support the VITA and/or TCE programs.
-VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) objective is to provide free tax help to people who cannot afford paid professional assistance. Volunteers help prepare basic tax returns for taxpayers with special needs, including persons with disabilities, those with low to limited income, and non-English speaking persons.
-TCE (Tax Counseling for the Elderly) provides free assistance with income tax return preparation for persons with middle or low income, with special attention to those ages 60 and older.

Special Requirements:   -Enjoy meeting and dealing with a variety of people -have experience with or enjoy learning about income tax preparation -Take pride in complete and accurate work -Are willing to complete the IRS and state training programs (approx. 40 hrs) -Are available to volunteer between Jan. 1 -- Apr. 15 -Can serve according to their availability
