Make A Difference Weekend 2007
Friendship Volunteer Center
The Friendship Volunteer Center is a program of Senior Friendship Centers providing volunteer placement for more than 491 community agencies throughout Sarasota County. In 2005, an estimated 5,342 active volunteers of all ages were connected using their talents and interests to create meaningful and worthwhile community engagement with an equivalent value of $1.3 million. The Friendship Volunteer Center is the coordinating entity for such successful volunteer programs as RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), mentoring, Brush Up Sarasota, disaster volunteer management, Florida Volunteer Certification Leadership Training, Teen Sarasota-Bright Futures and outreach to limited English speaking volunteers.
Working in partnership with community members, local foundations, faith based organizations, health and human services providers, and other disaster-related organizations and many departments of the County government, the Friendship Volunteer Center brings a great spirit of teamwork to address potential disasters in Sarasota County and to provide relief and recovery to regional areas affected by disaster.
