Description:
Seeking skilled grant writer to join the board of directors of Response of Suffolk County and oversee agency’s grant writing initiatives. Ideally, this person will have familiarity with the non-profit world, 3-5 years experience as a grant writer, and some supervisory experience. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team; excellent written communication skills; good follow up. Additionally, must have access to a computer with internet and Microsoft Word capabilities. A one-year commitment is requested.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Attending and participating in board meetings

§ Developing an operational understanding of Response’s programs

§ Communicating effectively in various manners by: Writing correspondence, grant proposals, and reports with correct grammar and style

§ Creating and maintaining filing systems and grant calendars and timelines

§ Researching prospective foundations

§ Providing high quality service in a timely manner


QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Experience with grant writing

§ Some pre-existing network and relationships with local foundations

§ Ability to leverage relationships and events to cultivate additional opportunities

§ Eagerness/ability to identify challenges and implement solutions

§ Excellent organizational and project management skills

§ Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

§ High and professional customer service skills with follow up and follow through

§ Experience and poise dealing with staff, donors, and volunteers
