Prom Boutique,
has been in existance for 15 years. This year gowns, shoes and accessories were distributed to over 1000 high girls who needed them in order to attend their proms or graduation event. We reach out to guidance counselors, youth organizations, social workers, then schedule collection dates and locations, and hold distribution events to invited groups throughout April and May. Information for next year will be posted the end of March on our website www.longislandvolunteercenter.org. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Letter Carriers' "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive >>> During the second Saturday in May, letter carriers pick up donated food from homes around the nation. Locally, volunteers help to sort and pack nonperishable items which are distributed to local food pantries, outreach centers and shelters.

Outdoor environmental projects are the focus during the summer. Land & seashore preservation and maintenance one day projects are organized and posted on the website.

Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame Recognition Awards >>> Founders of nonprofit organizations and individual lifetime achievers are nominated and application forms are due in September. The ceremony is held in February. Benches commemmorating inductees are placed at Bethpage State Park.

Long Island Volunteer Fair - in October over 75 nonprofit agency representatives gather at Farmingdale State College to meet the public and share their missions and explain their volunteer positions.
