Description:
Multiple programs in the 8-county Denver Metro area use volunteers as class aides and one-on-one tutors. For information on these programs see the Literacy Coalition of Colorado website at www.literacycoalition.org
Volunteers receive free training through the Coalition and are helped to find the right opportunity for them. Learners are often trying to improve their reading, writing and math skills or to study for the GED test (the high school equivalency test). Some are in need of job skills like interviewing and writing resumes.
Many learners are from other countries throughout the world and are studying English. They need tutors to give them practice in English conversation and also to help them understand and fit in to our culture. The Coalition will help tutors find the place where they can be successful and help others.
