The mission of Metro Volunteers is to mobilize and cultivate volunteers as a vital force in our community.

The vision of Metro Volunteers is that volunteers are recognized as a critical resource in addressing societal needs in the community and Metro Volunteers is recognized as the expert in volunteerism in the Denver metro area.

Metro Volunteers is the only organization in the Denver metro area that focuses on educating nonprofit staff about how to effectively train and manage volunteers and the only organization with a board matching program to recruit, train and place qualified available individuals who wish to serve on nonprofit boards of directors.

In 2006, Metro Volunteers worked with more than 600 nonprofits through its programs and services, and helped to connect over 100,000 volunteers with the perfect opportunity for civic engagement. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports that on average an adult who volunteers spends 52 hours a year volunteering, and the estimated dollar value of a volunteer hour for 2006 was $18.04 according to the Independent Sector. Using these figures, Metro Volunteers’ programs contributed over $93 million dollars to the Colorado economy in last year alone!
