The mission of CureSearch is to guarantee a child with cancer the gift of a long and healthy life.
Cancer is the #1 cause of death from disease in children. Every school day, 46 young people, or two classrooms of students, are diagnosed with cancer in this country. More than 12,500 children are diagnosed with cancer each year, and over 40,000 children and adolescents are currently being treated. Each day that pediatric cancer research goes under-funded the road to discovering new treatments and cures become longer, and more children die. Improving treatments for pediatric cancers can equate to adding 60+ years to a child's life.
CureSearch, a nonprofit organization, is launching a worldwide strategic initiative to conquer childhood cancer, conquer it sooner, conquer it fully and for all time. CureSearch supports the work of the Children?s Oncology Group, the world?s premier pediatric cancer research collaborative. Children?s Oncology Group unites the best of the academic and clinical research worlds to move the most promising treatments from laboratory to clinical trial to standard of care. They treat 90% of all children diagnosed with cancer.
The Children?s Oncology Group includes more than 5,000 dedicated experts in childhood cancer research and treatment, located at more than 200 leading children?s hospitals, university hospitals, and cancer centers in North America. By working together, clinical investigators improve cure rates at a much faster pace than could any one individual or single institution acting alone.
Together we can reach the day when every child with cancer is guaranteed a cure.
