Description:
The Micah Center is open from 9:30-11:30, Monday through Friday. Volunteers arrive at 9am and typically serve until 11:45am. Volunteers assist with front desk duties, kitchen help, clothing organization, and hygiene distribution. Individuals who wish to volunteer on a regular basis are asked to complete a volunteer application, attend volunteer training, and sign commitment and confidentiality forms. Other specialized areas for volunteers include the following:
On-call volunteers—put your name on a sub list to be called when we are short of regular volunteers
Giving Back support—help to oversee and transport (only needed for certain projects) Giving Back volunteers to different projects
Respite Care—help to take meals to individuals in Micah’s Respite Care and provide encouragement and fellowship
Transporters—help to transport Micah guests to and from area appointments (i.e. doctor appointments, job interviews, etc.)
Job Specialist—help Micah guests with resume writing, job searching, and skills needed to attain employment
Boot Donator—serve on an “on-call” list to provide requested boots 2 or 3 times a year
Breakfast preparation—provide breakfast one morning or month (or even once a week) for 65-80 Micah guests
Clothing support—help to organize and sort donation
Fundraising support—assist Micah’s fundraising committee in preparing for events and projects
