Quail Hollow Park Restoration - Saturday, 11/21/09 and Saturday 12/05/09, 10 am - 1 pm
Join us on Saturday, 11/21/09 and Saturday, 12/05/09, from 10 am to 1 pm removing invasive French broom. We are a volunteer group working to restore native habitat in the parks and protected lands in Santa Cruz County. Our program provides an opportunity for people to learn about the natural systems that surround them while helping to restore special and wild places. No prior work experience is necessary, just show up at the park. We welcome individual volunteers from 8 to 80 years, as well as special group projects. Wear comfortable layered clothing, bring something to drink, and lots of enthusiasm! We work rain or shine, but if things get particularly unpleasant, we call it a day. Tools provided; bring gloves. To volunteer or for more information, contact Program Leader, Linda Brodman 831.462.4041, redwdrn@pacbell.net

STARS - The Red Hot Ball!  Saturday, December 5, 2009

The Museum of Art & History, a non-profit community-based cultural and educational organization, is preparing for our winter fundraising gala, Stars: The Red Hot Ball, on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Now in its eighteenth year, this event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to benefit the Museum’s exhibitions and education programs. Proceeds from Stars provide funding for the following key activities:

  • Exhibitions of contemporary art and the history of Santa Cruz County.

  •  Educational opportunities, including school tours to thousands of children in Santa Cruz County.

  • Adult and family programs- In 2008, 6,000 adults and children participated in these programs.

The Museum is seeking volunteers to support the many tasks necessary to host this event. Opportunities include preparations prior to the gala, and  assistance  the evening of Stars.

Experience with food service is highly desirable, and we need help with decor and maintenance. There are schedules to fit most needs.  If you would like to learn more about these opportunities,  contact Allie Wilson, Director of Events/Volunteer Serice, at 831-429-1964.
