Hospice of Santa Cruz County is looking for compassionate men and women to join our Hospice team as Volunteer Visitors and Grief Support Volunteers. Volunteer Visitors work in the home or in Nursing Homes with people facing life limiting illnesses, and their families, offering practical help and emotional support. Grief Support Volunteers offer compassionate support to those who have experienced the death of a loved one; support is provided in one on one sessions or in a group setting. We welcome applications from adults interested in this uniquely rewarding work. Assignments are available throughout Santa Cruz County. We have a special need for volunteers who are bi-lingual and/or bi-cultural and also certified massage therapists. Volunteers must complete a 36hour training beginning February 9, 2010. There is a small fee for the training; some scholarships are available. Volunteers are asked to make a one year commitment.
