Description:
Victim Advocate volunteers provide one-on-one advocacy and crisis intervention to victims of crime and their loved ones. Volunteers in this position are responsible for responding to victim crisis calls, providing one-on-one advocacy and crisis intervention, courtroom support, references, referals, and follow-up in the future. Advocates provide support to victims throughout the criminal justice process, advocate for victims within the criminal justice system, with employers, landlords and others, as needed. These volunteers assist victims with obtaining resources for basic needs.

Time Details:
Shifts on the crisis hotline are typically overnight. All other advocacy typically occurs during normal business hours.
All volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Background Check and sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
All victim advocates are required to attend a 30 hour pre-advocacy training. They must also attend quarterly volunteer meetings. Direct service volunteers must obtain 12 additional hours of training every year after their first year of service.
