Description:
Y-Pals is a mentoring program that meets at Meeker Elementary once a week. Students in grades 1 through 5 are partnered up one-on-one with an ISU student during this time. Activities include playing games inside or outside, crafts, occasionally snacks, reading/homework/etc. It's not required that during this time the pair does homework or school-related activities, because most of the time the elementary student will just want to hang out and talk with you while doing some sort of game! The relationships developed in this program are really great, and we ask that the volunteers commit to at least a semester because the kids (and the ISU students!) become attached!
There is required training that will be around the beginning of October. If you're interested in volunteering, please contact us as soon as possible!
