About us.............................
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program has been providing volunteer services in both Scott and Cape Girardeau Counties since 1973. RSVP volunteers, age 55 years or older, enhance the quality of life as well as enrich our society and/or communities.
The Volunteer Intergenerational Center which began July 1, 2002 in the Cape Girardeau County area has thus far created an interest and sparked a great deal of enthusiasm among various age groups. Due to an overwhelming interest, VIC expanded into Scott County on January 1, 2007.
With integrating RSVP and VIC together, it is a well known fact that there is a tremendous power when young and old are united in meaningful, rewarding work. Together they build healthier, safer, more inclusive communities and in the end, make our country stronger and a better place to live.
Our Mission.............................
Helping people help people.
Our Vision...................................... To act as a catalyst in supporting a strong infrastructure that meets critical social needs in our communities through promoting personal involvement, and connecting people who want to help with those who need it and by building community partnerships that bring together the resources needed for effective solutions as a means of creating a better environment in which our families can grow and prosper. The Volunteer Intergenerational Center and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program recruit volunteers of all ages in order to help expand services in non-profit agencies who are struggling with today's social issues and problems. These agencies connect volunteers and resources so that they may work as effectively and efficiently as possible to create positive change for our communities in Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties.
