Description:
Assist staff horticulturist with propagation of native and non-native plants in greenhouses, for interior animal exhibits, lobbies, ponds, sale nursery, shrub and tree nursery to include fertilization, labeling, organizing, pest control, plan inspection and removal, pruning, re-potting, seedling care, soil preparations, watering and weeding.
Maintenance of outdoor landscape including display beds, exterior animal exhibits, parking lots, and wetlands on the boardwalk region.
Maintain the greenhouses in an attractive, functional manner.
At least 15 years of age.
Basic knowledge of landscape design, maintenance, plants and their care preferred.
Enthusiasm for horticulture.
Physically able to work outside in the elements year round
Physical ability to bend, climb, kneel, reach, stoop preferred
Physical ability to carry, lift, pull/push weighted objects preferred
Willing to work in old clothes and to get dirty and wet at times.
