Volunteer Mobile is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization. Volunteer Mobile is funded by grants, contracts, foundation and individual tax-deductible donations, special events, and, in part, by the United Way of Southwest Alabama. Since its chartering in 1975, Volunteer Mobile has been committed to mobilizing people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems.

Volunteer Mobile connects individuals, groups and businesses with opportunities to serve over 300 non-profit agencies, schools and hospitals in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Last year, Volunteer Mobile referred over 4,000 volunteers to fill 5,400+ volunteer opportunities. This impacted the local economy by more than $6,400,000.00. 

Volunteer Mobile coordinates and assists several other special programs:

 Impact Club,  Training & Technical Assistance, Medical Reserve Corps, Youth Volunteer Opportunities, Volunteer Recruitment & Referral, and Corporate Volunteer Center

In 2000, Volunteer Mobile was the recipient of the highest national honor a volunteer center could receive from the Points of Light Foundation, the prestigious George W. Romney Award, designating this volunteer center as one of the best in the United States.

Volunteer Mobile is an affiliate of  The Hands On Network.
