DISASTER VOLUNTEER RECEPTION CENTER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP AFTER A DISASTER?

Volunteer Okaloosa/Walton is the designated agency to process, recruit and deploy unaffiliated volunteers after an emergency.  We serve as the starting point for unaffiliated volunteers and local agencies that need help.  Our disaster volunteer reception centers will activate after a disaster to mobilize the large groups of unaffiliated volunteers that show up to help.

WHAT IS AN UNAFFILIATED VOLUNTEER?

Unaffiliated or spontaneous volunteers are not associated with any recognized disaster response agency but they possess other training, skills and experience.  They can appear on the scene or call to offer assistance.  Unaffiliated does not mean unskilled and there are many ways for volunteers to be involved provided that there is some organization and procedure to register and assign these volunteers to the local agencies that need help after a disaster.  That is where we come in.
