Give an hour. Give a Saturday. Give your best! We all have special talents—things we can do to help, and when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. Whether it is reading to children, working on a park trail, teaching financial literacy classes to hardworking families, or delivering meals to homebound seniors, there are volunteer options every day. Give the gift of you. Volunteer.
Where We’re From
Volunteer Connections was founded in 2003 through the labors of an AmeriCorps VISTA Member, Allen Gallant. Under the guidance of an Advisory Council of engaged community members, the program website was developed and advanced. Montana State University Office for Community Involvement has helped coordinate efforts over the years, and in 2009, Volunteer Connections became a program of Greater Gallatin United Way.
Why Volunteer Connections?
Based on a comprehensive community survey:
- 97% of the organizations surveyed use volunteers to administer and/or deliver program services, but only half find the volunteers they truly need on a monthly basis.
- 72% of organizations surveyed can only devote 1-10 hours a month to volunteer recruitment, while 70% cannot afford to budget for volunteer recruitment.
- Nearly 80 percent of organizations were interested in a centralized, web-based resource to recruit volunteers.
- 75% of individuals surveyed said they were interested in a volunteer center.
Volunteer Connections has a council of community members who act in an advisory manner to Greater Gallatin United Way.
