Description:
The National MS Society, Colorado Chapter is looking for a dynamic, energetic, responsible and organized individual to join the Development Team. The Special Event Internship is an exciting position within the MS Society’s Colorado Chapter, working directly with the senior development coordinator of logistics to assist in overseeing, managing, and coordinating certain aspects of the Walk MS, Bike MS and associated events.

The mass-market special events include 10 statewide walks on 2-day 150-mile ride. The events yield nearly $4 million annually. The charity events benefit those living with the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Responsibilities:
•Assist the Bike MS Coordinator with correspondence between vendors and sponsors
•Work directly with vendors to obtain bids
•Help coordinate the Bike MS housing, Woodstock on Wheels music Festival, and VIP Reception
•Assist with design and compiling mass mailings
•Arrange event logistics, including, but not limited to: route, in-kind donations, event communications, event packets and operations manuals for key staff and volunteers
•Assist with accounting, routine paperwork, mailings, faxing, photocopying and graphics requests

Who & How
Volunteers Needed:   1
Special Requirements:   -Available a minimum of 15 hours a week, preferably 2 full days (flexible) -Available on event weekend: May 1 and June 25th - 28th 2010 -Able to provide reliable transportation -Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Web Browsers -Ability to create a professional presentation, both over the phone, and in person -Must be willing to ask questions, think creatively, and brainstorm for fun new ideas for the Bike MS events -Strong organizational skills -Strong planning skills -Ability to effectively work on several complex projects simultaneously -Strong oral and written communication skills -Ability to successfully prioritize work -Ability to work effectively with large groups -Knowledge and ability to quickly learn Chapter database and accounting system -A strong sense of purpose and a passion for working in an open, friendly environment while working to build a wonderful event! This position will allow for professional growth, networking, and a behind the scenes look at the ins and outs of event management, committee involvement, and financials. Allow for 15 hours weekly.
